Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness for women and children in the District of Columbia.

Since 2006, the District Alliance for Safe Housing has been changing the landscape for survivors of domestic violence in the District. There weren’t enough safe housing units for survivors, so we built more. The services available for survivors didn’t meet the need in the community, so we changed the way we do business. We innovate, because compassion drives us to – and we will keep going until we have created a city where every survivor has a safe place to call home.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re raising $10,000 to ensure that all survivors and children fleeing violence have access to safety this winter season.

DASH’s Cornerstone program is the largest safe housing program for survivors and children in the DC area.

Residents share that they feel empowered and can thrive at Cornerstone:

“It is just more freedom. At DASH you don’t really feel like as if you’re in a program. It feels like home.” Former Cornerstone Resident and Survivor.

Your Giving Tuesday gift will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to our generous donor the Live to Give Equity and Justice Fund!

A donation today can go a long way to provide the essentials that survivors and their children need when they come to Cornerstone to find sanctuary, safety, and a path to self-determination:

  • $25 - one new metro card for travel to job interviews, education classes, and more
  • $50 - a month of toiletries for a family at Cornerstone
  • $120 - cover the cost of the DC GED exam for one survivor
  • $500 - new comforter sets for five families entering Cornerstone this winter
  • $1,000 - one year of healthy breakfast snacks before school for 65 kiddos at DASH

Thank you for supporting DASH - your donation today is doubled to make a greater impact for survivors and families in safe housing.
